The Design Fair is our village commons, the gathering place for attendees between sessions and during breakfast, lunch and evening events at “Head, Heart, Hand”. Virtually all activities occur in this area, including roundtable discussions with our speakers and prominent designers, the Command X workstation and amenities, including the design and bookstore, and convenient conversation areas to discuss the day’s issues and engage in friendly debate.
The Design Fair also features an exhibit hall where you can learn about the latest products, software and hardware from many of our business partners:
French Paper Co.
The Minneapolis College of Art and Design
Riot Creative Imaging
Serigraphics Sign Systems
Shapco Printing, Inc.
Vermont College of Fine Arts
In the heart of the Design Fair, you’ll find the Command X workstation. Swing by to catch a glimpse of your favorite Command X contestants hard at work on their next assignments. Each morning’s main stage session will also feature interviews conducted by our very own Sean Adams, checking in with the contestants from this workstation.
Our business partners, who make it possible to hold conferences such as “Head, Heart, Hand,” will introduce you to the newest products on the market, from the latest in software innovation to unique tools that will help you do your job better and more efficiently. We encourage every attendee to visit each booth and meet these friends of design—they too believe in the value of design and are committed to your success! Our exhibitors are also the sponsors of our Opening Night Reception on Thursday evening and the Happy Hour on Friday.
Where else can you see the portfolios of 100 up-and-coming designers? Here’s your chance, during the Friday evening Happy Hour in the Design Fair. Be sure to stop by and check out the work of the next generation of designers. “Head, Heart, Hand” also offers programming designed specifically for students and emerging designers—check it out here.
Browse and buy the latest titles by, about or recommended by “Head, Heart, Hand” presenters, as well as AIGA publications and a hand-picked selection of art, photography and design-related books plus other design items at the Design and Bookstore by the Walker Art Center.
A unique and valuable opportunity for you to engage in an intimate conversation with “Head, Heart, Hand” presenters and other design luminaries, roundtables are held during breakfast and lunch breaks at the Design Fair. Pre-registration is required and all roundtables are currently full.
